Apparently there are people who are really addicted to crypto money like Bitcoin, even to the point of being forced to go to rehab. That's what happened, for example, to this man named Steven.
Steven is one of the patients at the Castle Craig rehab center in Scotland. Various types of addiction can be treated here, including what has recently been said to be a frequent occurrence is the addiction to crypto money. In the last 6 years, about 100 patients there suffered from the condition.
"Not that every one of them is addicted to crypto money. But indeed many of them have a mental obsession with crypto money," said Anthony Marini, a senior therapist there, as quoted by us from Metro.
He views investing in cryptocurrencies as gambling and not to mention, the low regulation in this sector. This makes many risks possible including the potential for losing a lot of money and the existence of criminal acts.
Steven, as one of the patients, admitted that he came to Castle Craig because of his cryptocurrency addiction and was also exacerbated by his penchant for gambling. He said he lost a lot of money and had suicidal thoughts.
"I spend more than 100 hours a week looking at Bitcoin. I started looking at other cryptocurrencies, but nothing more interesting than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is almost like my son. I'll talk to him, trade it, buy it and sell it fast," he said. .
After receiving treatment at Craig Castle for a few months, he says he is now in much better shape. Steven also hopes that there will be more education about the dangers of crypto currency, especially for young people.
"I worry about the future of many young people with cellphones and laptops, who suddenly win once. They need to educate themselves about how they can lose everything at any moment if they put all their income into crypto money," he argues.
