This is proof that Spotify is getting serious about working on podcasts

Spotify as one of the most popular music streaming platforms today continues to focus and develop its services in the realm of podcasts.

Proven to support its podcast service, Spotify announced that it had acquired two podcast companies, Chartable and Podsights.

Launching from Gizmochina, this is the first major acquisition this year in the audio-related business, but unfortunately it is not stated in detail how much the acquisition will cost.

Both of these companies, Chartable and Podsights, operate in the areas of podcast marketing and ad attribution.

They allow podcasters and networks to include tags in shows to track details like who listened to the track, if they heard the ad or if they took any action after hearing the ad, and more.

Speaking further about the acquisition of Podsight, Spotify said that they will use the technology beyond podcasting and bring it to the full scope of the Spotify platform, including audio ads within music, video ads, and display ads.

As for Chartable, Spotify plans to focus more on podcasters than advertisers. It will integrate its audience insights and promotional tools, SmartLinks and SmartPromos with Megaphone so that podcasters can grow their business.

The Podsights team itself of around 40 full-time employees will join Spotify and it is said there are no plans to customize the team at this time, while the Chartable employees will be added to Spotify's Megafon division.
