The World Report Happiness 2022 has just released a list of the happiest and happiest countries in the world in 2022. Based on the report, Afghanistan has been named the happiest country in the world.
The World Happiness Report is a report issued by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations. This report is always issued ahead of World Happiness Day which falls on March 20 last.
Of the 146 countries monitored, Afghanistan ranks bottom. While the happiest country again fell to Finland. So, Indonesia is in the order of what, huh?
The World Happiness Report ranks all countries in the world based on variables that are considered to be factors of happiness. Starting from income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support, to generosity.
Afghanistan scored low in all categories, with a score of 2.4. This figure is very far when compared to Finland which gets a score of 7.8.
Besides Afghanistan, at the bottom there are Lebanon and Zimbabwe. The two countries are respectively in the second and bottom third places with the same score, which is 2.9.
Why Is Afghanistan The Most Unhappy Country?
There are several factors that make Afghanistan the happiest country in the world. For example, the rise under the US-backed government in Kabul to high levels of poverty and lack of job opportunities.
In addition, the report also warns that Afghanistan's score as the world's happiest country is at risk of falling further due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
List of the World's Most Unhappy Countries
Based on the 2022 World Happiness Report, Indonesia apparently ranks 87th in the list of the happiest countries in the world. Indonesia is only superior to a number of other ASEAN countries, namely Laos at 95th and Cambodia at 114th position.
