Drones fly in the skies over Ukraine, both operated by Russia and Ukraine themselves. Good for combat or just observation.
There are at least 4 types of drones that color the war between Russia and Ukraine. The following is a list compiled by us from various sources:
Bayraktar TB2
The Bayraktar TB2 drone, which is quite sophisticated, was relied on by Ukraine and managed to destroy several Russian military convoys that invaded their country. This drone is made in Turkey and has been fielded in several battlefields before.
This drone is 6.5 meters long and has a wingspan of 12 meters. In addition to attacking the enemy, Bayraktar TB2 can also be used for reconnaissance missions from the air. It can fly for 24 hours at a maximum altitude of 7,300 meters both during the day and at night.
Switchblade
The United States is deploying a new weapon to Ukraine in the form of a suicide drone called the Switchblade. This drone is made by the AeroVironment company and is one of the mainstays of the US military. It was nicknamed the 'kamikaze' drone because it hit its target with a high warhead so that both of them were destroyed.
The relatively small Switchblade 300 drone is designed to target human personnel, while the larger Switchblade 600 is intended to destroy tanks and similar vehicles.
Drone KUB-BLA
Russia also has a suicide drone that has reportedly been deployed to Ukraine, called KUB BLA. The drone, which was first introduced in 2019, has a wingspan of 1.2 meters and is flown with a portable launcher. It can fly up to 30 minutes with a top speed of 130 km per hour.
This drone made by a Russian company called ZALA Aero has artificial intelligence to determine targets and destroy them. He will crash into the target and detonate a bomb weighing 3 kilograms.
Not only combat drones, Russia and Ukraine have both deployed DJI drones and their technology in warfare. While Ukraine is using DJI drones to spy on the Russian military, Russia is primarily using DJI's drone tracking technology known as AeroScope.
DJI itself is a commercial drone manufacturer from China that is very well known for its reliability. Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov said that DJI should block the technology used by Russia.
