After Mac Studio, Apple Promises to Release Mac Pro

Apple released the Mac Studio powered by the M1 Ultra, the fastest Apple Silicon -- currently -- in the M1 family. But they also promised to release the Mac Pro.

This was stated by John Ternus, Apple's SVP Hardware Engineering, at the "Peek Performance" event, Wednesday (9/3/2022) early this morning. After presenting Mac Studio, Ternus said there was still one more product to be launched.

"This means that there is only one more product (to be launched), namely the Mac Pro. But not now," Ternus said half teasingly at the end of his presentation.

Apple didn't reveal an exact release date for the Mac Pro, but if you look at Apple's habits, it's likely that the launch will take place at WWDC 2022 in June, an event aimed at Apple app developers.

Previously, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg did mention that Apple will hold another event to launch Mac devices, which is planned to take place in May or June.

Mac Studio itself, as previously leaked, is a device that fills the gap between the Mac Mini and Mac Pro. It's faster than the Mac Mini, but not as tight and bulky as the Mac Pro.

Although Mac Studio with M1 Max compared to the previous generation Mac Pro, namely Mac Pro with 16 core Intel Xeon processor, the performance is 50% faster. Meanwhile, Mac Studio with M1 Ultra performs 90% faster. At least that's what Apple claims.

Apple also compared the M1 Ultra to other processors, such as the Intel Core i9-12900K with DDR5 RAM for CPU performance comparisons, and Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090 for GPU performance comparisons.

For example, CPU performance is better than a 16-core processor for desktop PCs with 100W more efficient power consumption. Then the GPU performance is equivalent to the highest discrete GPU with 200W less power consumption.
