International Women's Day is celebrated every 8 March. There are many different celebrations that aim to commemorate it. This year, there is a unique celebration of Barbie.
Barbie focuses on building self-confidence and developing women's abilities with examples of 12 role models from various ethnic backgrounds to professions. Starting from film producers, makeup artists, CEOs, spa owners, activists, designers and others. We may already know some of the characters' works and some you may have just heard of.
"In celebration of this year's #InternationalWomensDay, we are paying tribute to 12 entrepreneurs and global role models by creating the world's only Barbie doll according to their appearance," Barbie wrote.

Here are 12 inspiring women who became role models for Barbie in commemoration of this year's International Women's Day:
Shonda Rhimes, producer and founder of Shondaland who produced hit series such as Inventing Anna, Bridgerton, Grey's Anatomy, and many more.
Adriana Azuara, founder and CEO of ALL4SPAS, a spa establishment.
Ari Horie, CEO and founder of the Women's Startup Lab.
Jane Martino, founder of Smiling Mind.
Pat McGrath, makeup artist and founder of Pat McGrath Labs. Pat McGrath has also been awarded an MBE or Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2013 from Queen Elizabeth II for his service in the world of fashion and beauty.

Butet Manurung, the only Barbie Role Model 2022 from Indonesia in batik cloth, Butet Manurung becomes a barbie model
Of the 12 names listed above, there is one name that may be familiar and grab your attention. Yup, Butet Manurung, Indonesian woman with real name Saur Marlina Manurung. Butet Manurung is known for his services in building the Sokola Institute which focuses on education in remote areas since 2003. Before Butet Manurung, there was also the famous designer Anne Avantie who first became a Barbie doll model.
Butet is very honored to be selected as one of the 12 Barbie Global Role Models, as well as representing Indonesian multiculturalism.
