Comparison of Galaxy A53 Vs Galaxy A52 Specs, Need an Upgrade?

As a successor, the Galaxy A53 5G brings a series of improvements from its predecessor, but do Galaxy A52 users need to upgrade to this cellphone? The following is a comparison of the specifications of the Galaxy A53 vs A52 for consideration.

Design

Galaxy A53 does not bring significant changes from the previous series. Samsung only provides a few changes in some areas.

The body of the Galaxy A53 is made slightly thinner with a size of 8.1 mm, while the Galaxy A52 has a thickness of 8.4 mm. Both of these phones weigh 189 grams.

The rear of the A53 is still the same as the A52, with a matte finish that is comfortable in the hand. But Samsung gives a glossy touch to the frame that surrounds this phone giving a more premium impression.

In addition, the A53 rear camera area is made slimmer with edges that are more integrated with the body. Samsung provides four colors, it's just that there is no longer a Purple option to replace it with Peach.

The front is still the same, adopting Infinity-O. Both the Galaxy A53 and A52 have IP67 which means they are dust and fresh water resistant to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes.

Screen

The Galaxy A53 and A52 carry a 6.5-inch screen with Full HD + resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel uses Super AMOLED, but the quality is improved on the A53.

"The new panel is more vibrant. The colors and brightness are higher than before, so they are more detailed and brighter than before," said Taufiqul Furqan, MX Product Marketing Manager, SEIN.

Performance

Galaxy A52 is equipped with Snapdragon 750 which is made with 8 nm fabrication. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A53 is supported by the new Exynos 1280 chipset which is made using 5 nm fabrication, promising better performance than its predecessor.

"CPU performance has increased by 20% from the A52, while the GPU is 30% and AI is 40%," said Taufiq.

Samsung includes 8 GB of RAM on the A53 in Indonesia which can add up to 8 GB of virtual RAM which is taken from the internal memory, so that the total RAM of this phone reaches 16 GB. For the internal memory itself, it has two options of 128 and 256 GB which can be increased up to 1 TB by installing a microSD.

Camera

The composition of the a52 and A53 cameras is no different. The main camera is both 64 MP, coupled with a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, 5 MP macro and 5 MP depth.

Likewise, Samsung promises better quality shots of the A53 because of the use of a new chipset and improved AI capabilities.

"Bokeh photos have smoother gradations, there is a night mode and an AI eraser to erase unwanted objects in the shots. There is also the ability to remaster old school photos so that they make memories more interesting when stored digitally," explained Taufiq.

OS Updates

When released, the Galaxy A52 ran One UI 3.1 based on Android 11, at that time Samsung promised three years of OS updates for this phone. This means that the A52 will only get the Android 14 update.

While the Galaxy A53 already runs One UI 4.1 based on Android 12, the South Korean tech giant promises that this phone will get four years of OS updates and five years of security updates. So that A53 users will be able to enjoy updates up to Android 16.

Battery

Samsung embeds the Galaxy A53 battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. This is an increase from the 4,500 mAh the A52 has. However, both phones are still equipped with 25W fast charging.

Need Upgrades?

Galaxy A53 offers an enhanced display, faster performance, bigger battery and extended OS support. If this is what you are looking for then there is nothing wrong with the Galaxy A52 that is currently being used.
