Currently the use of social media is rampant; it's been countless how much time people spend on social media. From getting information to being a place to share, social media is so loved.
However, in its use, it raises the phenomenon of oversharing on social media, which is a behavior that shares too much detailed information. Oversharing can have a negative impact and harm the perpetrator.
For example, recently, a Ukrainian man was arrested after posting a TikTok video of a military vehicle parked near a shopping center being blown up by Russia some time later. As is known, Russia has invaded Ukraine since the end of last February.
Russian troops attacked a shopping mall on the northwestern outskirts of Kyiv, Ukraine, killing eight people, Reuters reported. The day after, the Ukrainian Security Service posted a video of the man apologizing.
"A TikToker recently posted on the internet about the location of the Ukrainian military in Kyiv," the Security Service said, quoted by Business Insider.
"Then, the shopping mall, where our defenders are located, was subjected to a powerful missile attack by the Russian invaders. Consciously or not, this person [Tiktoker] is working with the enemy. An investigation will be carried out," he added.
The TikToker is named Artemev Pavel Alexandrevich and claims to be a resident of Kyiv. He posted a TikTok video showing the movement of Ukrainian military equipment near a shopping mall. He also appealed to people to be careful when uploading videos on TikTok.
It's still unclear exactly when Alexandrevich posted the TikTok video. But a Russian news outlet, Pravda, reports that he posted it on February 24, the day Russia launched its attack on Ukraine.
Previously, Ukrainian officials had warned citizens to refrain from posting footage of Ukrainian military movements on social media. Because, it is feared that this could help Russian troops with their targets.
After the shopping mall bombing, Kyiv Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, urged residents not to share footage surrounding the movement of military equipment, checkpoints, strategic objects on social media.
According to Sky News, Russia's defense ministry said it targeted a shopping mall that was no longer in use because it was being used as a storage area for ammunition and rockets by Ukrainian forces.
It was not clear whether Ukrainian forces used the shopping center to store military equipment. But a local Kyiv resident told The Guardian that Ukrainian troops are using the entire area as a base because it is only a few miles from the neighboring city of Irpin, where Russian troops are stationed.
Wow, I hope we can all be wiser in using social media!
