Elon Musk's SpaceX rocket will deliver delicious food to the International Space Station (ISS) thanks to the presence of renowned chef José Andrés.
Andrés, a celebrity chef from Spain, partnered with Axiom Space, a company that provides space travel. The space menu that will be served later, is mostly Spanish dishes including paella.
Quoted from The Sun, food made by Andrés will be sent to the ISS this spring in conjunction with a non-government space flight program.
This mission will take place sometime next month. Four lucky people will become the crew of this flight program, and they will spend eight days on the ISS.
NASA veteran Michael López-AlegrÃa will be commander of the upcoming launch. He also turns out to be a friend of Andrés.
"Before I started dreaming of being able to serve food to people in outer space, I dreamed of serving food in deep water like in Jules Verne. I think serving food for me is a major challenge, especially at the edge of an alien world," he said.
Even though the food Andrés made would later become a treat, NASA made sure its astronauts always had plenty of food on board the ISS, including a variety of desserts and condiments like ketchup and mustard.
"The difficulty is that NASA has done this very well over the years. They've prepared a lot of dishes. And the question is can we serve something different, something new?," said Andrés.
