Exa Dark Sideræl Meaning, Name of Elon Musk and Grimes's Second Child

Elon Musk and musician Grimes secretly have a second child. Just like his first child, his second child who is a girl was also given a strange name, namely Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. What does it mean?

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Grimes said Exa refers to the supercomputing term exaFLOPS, or the ability to perform 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second.

Whereas Dark represents what we don't know. "People scare it, but actually it is the absence of photons. Dark matter is a beautiful mystery of our universe," Grimes said, as quoted by The Guardian, Friday (11/3/2022).

Then Sideræl (which is pronounced 'sigh-deer-ee-el') is the fairy-like spelling of sidereal. "Actual universe time, stellar time, deep space time, not relative time on our Earth," Grimes said. Sideræl also refers to Galadriel, Grimes' favorite Lord of the Rings character.

With the complicated name, Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, said she calls her daughter Y. Her and Musk's daughters were born last December through a surrogate.

Musk and Grimes also gave their first child a strange name, X A-12. His first son, who was born in May 2020, is usually called X.

When asked, Musk and Grimes seem to have slightly different explanations for the meaning of the name X. Musk said 'X' simply refers to the letter X, while Grimes said it refers to the sign of an unknown variable.

While Musk says 'Æ' is called 'Ash', Grimes says it's a fairy-like spelling of 'Ai' which could mean love or artificial intelligence.

At least for 'A-12', this on-and-off couple has the same definition. The name refers to the Archangel 12, the successor to the SR-71, which was Musk and Grimes' favorite.

After having two children, Grimes said he and the SpaceX CEO plan to have more. But the Canadian musician admitted that he and Musk had broken up again since the Vanity Fair article was written.

"We always wanted at least three or four children," said Grimes
