Fortnite Successfully Collects USD 50 million Donation for Ukraine

Following the humanitarian actions of several game developers, Fortnite recently announced its contribution to helping Ukraine. They raised funds, starting from March 20 to April 3 next, where the amount was fantastic.

"Today we have raised USD 50 million for humanitarian aid funds to support people affected by the war in Ukraine," wrote Fortnite, quoted by detikINET from social media, Wednesday (23/3/2022).

According to his statement, there are several organizations that will receive the funds. Where those on the ground provide emergency assistance, including health, food, clean water, other essential supplies, legal aid and shelter.

Meanwhile, some of these institutions, including Direct Relief, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) and UNHCR are dealing with refugees. Fortnite confirms that in the next few weeks, the number of organizations accepting donations will grow.

"All purchases made by players in Fortnite during the period March 20 to April 3, will be given away. This includes the V-Buck pack, Fortnite Crew, Battle Pass and other cosmetic packages, such as the Voidlander pack," wrote Fortnite.

However, they emphasized that using V-Bucks or in-game digital money, to make purchases is not included. Due to the sales received, use real money when transacting.

"100% of Fortnite proceeds, equal to the gross purchase price of all in-game purchases or retail purchase redemptions during the period. But excluding taxes, third party platform fees, refunds or goods," Fortnite said.

The indie game marketplace, itch.io, has done the same thing before. Where they together with more than 700 creators, raised funds and managed to get a fantastic value of up to USD 6.37 million.
