Fun! WhatsApp Prepares a Feature to Change Language in the Application

As an application that is widely used around the world, WhatsApp is available in 60 languages. Currently the language used on WhatsApp is automatically selected according to the phone's settings, but it looks like WhatsApp users will have more control.

According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is preparing a new feature that allows users to manually select the language of the app. This new feature was found in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.8.3, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Tuesday (22/3/2022).

From the screenshot uploaded by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will have a new option in the settings named 'App language'. When selecting this option, users can choose one of the languages supported by WhatsApp.

The feature to select the language in the WhatsApp application is actually already available in several countries, such as India. But this new feature seems intended for users around the world that will be accessible to anyone.

This language selection feature is also similar to what Google is preparing for Android 13. Based on a leak from the Developer Preview, Android 13 will come with a feature that allows users to manually select the language in the application, no longer following the language in the phone settings.

Currently, the WhatsApp feature that can change the language in the application is still in the development stage and it is not yet known when it will be rolled out publicly. When this feature enters the new beta phase, users can try it out.

In addition to the App Language feature, WhatsApp is also preparing several features that users have been waiting for for a long time. Some of them are message reactions, multi-device support, and global voice note player.

For the message reaction feature, this feature has now been released to several beta testers via the WhatsApp update for Android version 2.22.8.3. With this feature, users can leave reactions in the form of emojis to received chats.
