Fun! WhatsApp users will be able to send files up to 2GB

WhatsApp continues to release new features to make it easier for its users. Meta's messaging app is currently testing a feature that allows users to send media files up to 2GB in size.

The new feature was discovered by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp beta for Android versions 2.22.8.5, 2.22.8.6, and 2.22.8.7. Do not miss the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 22.7.0.76 has also received this update.

But according to a WABetaInfo source, this feature is only available to a handful of beta testers in Argentina. It is not yet known whether this feature will be rolled out to more users in other countries, as quoted from 9to5Mac, Monday (28/3/2022).

This new feature certainly brings a significant improvement over the features currently available on WhatsApp. As is known, WhatsApp currently limits the size of media files that can be sent to 100 MB.

The presence of this feature is quite late, considering that Telegram has allowed users to send files up to 2GB since 2020. But because this feature is still in the trial phase, there is a possibility that WhatsApp will cancel this feature after the trial period ends.

This kind of practice is common for Meta's applications. For example, Instagram recently piloted a new version of Close Friends called Selected People in Brazil. After six months, Instagram felt less comfortable with this feature and returned it to its original state.

In addition to the features above, WhatsApp is also preparing to release two new big features, namely emoji reactions and 2.0 multi-device support.

As the name implies, emoji reactions allow users to react in the form of emojis to messages they receive. This feature is already available to some beta testers on Android and is likely to be rolled out in the near future.

While multi-device support allows users to use the same WhatsApp account on two different phones and up to four other devices, even when the main phone is running out of battery or not connected to the internet.
