For more than two years, the world's population has tried to coexist with COVID-19. During that time this virus is getting worse with variants that continue to grow. However, there is recent research that brings us some good news.
The Journal of Epidemiology and Global Health published by Springerlink in early January 2022 revealed a link between a person's immunity to COVID-19 and his blood type. In other words, there are people with certain blood types who are more immune to COVID-19.
This study involved 370 patients in Saudi Arabia who were positive for COVID-19 with different blood types. However, the classification of this study is divided into two, namely age and gender. Previously, there were journals that said type A was said to be a blood type with a high risk of being infected with COVID-19.
However, the results of research in Saudi Arabia show different results. "The article reports contradicting observations, showing that individuals with blood type B are more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection than type A," the journal wrote.

Furthermore, blood types B and AB have a higher risk of testing positive for COVID-19. So, which blood type is immune to COVID-19?
"Meanwhile, type O individuals are less likely to be exposed to COVID-19," the journal added.
The results of the study found that type O blood has a low risk of testing positive for COVID-19 and is quite protected when infected with COVID-19, without severe symptoms. Then for blood type B, they have a higher COVID-19 rate, but the reported symptoms are still mild.
"Further research is needed to validate larger sample sizes among individuals from different ethnic groups," the study said.
