Google I/O, Google's annual developer conference, will be held on May 11 and 12, 2022. Since it is a developer conference, this event will focus on updating software and operating systems, including the latest version of Android.
This year's Google I/O event will still be held online. But it looks like some of the conference will be broadcast live from the Shoreline Amphitheater which has hosted Google I/O in recent years.
"This year's event will be broadcast in front of a limited live audience, and is completely free and available to virtually everyone," said Google spokesman Alex Garcia-Kummert in an official statement, as quoted by The Verge, Thursday (17/3/2022). .
In Google's official statement to Axios, the audience who will attend directly to watch this year's Google I/O will consist of several Google employees and company partners.

Registration will open this month and is free of charge. Because there are no tickets, it seems that this event can be attended by anyone.
Various pre-recorded sessions will be available after the livestream, including sessions about Android, Chrome, and more. In addition to the main event, there is also the 2022 Learning Lab which contains tutorials, workshops, etc., as well as community groups.
Google I/O was briefly absent in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the event will be held virtually and broadcast from the Googleplex with a small audience of Google employees.
At last year's event, Google unveiled several big announcements including Android 12 with a 'Material You' design, updates to Workspace, and announcing Wear OS 3.
Android 13 looks like it will be a big announcement at Google I/O this year. The latest version of Android has entered the developer preview phase since February, and it seems that it will enter the beta phase when Google I/O is held.
It is not yet known whether the Made by Google team will use this event to announce new hardware. The long-rumored Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch will likely launch at this event.
