Cheoyongmu Dance


The dance, which is included in one of the categories at UNESCO, namely the Supreme Masterpiece of the Oral and Nonhuman Cultural Heritage of Man is a traditional Korean dance that is commonly used to ward off evil, ward off evil spirits and pray for peace at royal banquets.


When performing this dance, the dancers will wear clothes with white, blue, black, red and yellow colors as symbols of the four cardinal directions and the center. They will also swear at various trinkets such as masks, earrings, beads, a black hat with 2 peonies and 7 peaches.


Seungmu Dance


Reportedly dating back 500 years, Seungmu Dance is one of the sacred dances in Korea. This dance was first played by monks but over time there were theatrical elements in it.


When dancing this dance, the dancers will wear a white hood called gokkal with long sleeves called gasa. Seungmu Dance itself was included in South Korea's important intangible cultural asset number 27 in 1969.



Buchaechum Dance


Buchaechum Dance is a traditional dance that uses a fan or commonly called a Korean fan dance. This dance is performed by a group of women wearing traditional Hanbok costumes with bright and contrasting colors who dance a fan dance with a peony flower motif.


Buchaechum Dance is one of the popular dances in South Korea which is often performed in annual celebrations, festivals and state events. The popularity of this dance cannot be separated from its beautiful dance because it combines visual art and the grace of the dancers.


Hallyangmu Dance


Originating from Dongrae, Busan, South Korea, this dance is known to have been held at entertainment houses or party events since 1910. The dance tells of lazy royalty who just have fun in their daily lives or is called Hallyangmu.


In Hallyangmu Dance there are several roles, namely gisaeng, lower level officials, monks and Hallyang. Usually the Hallyangmu Dance dancers will use Hanbok, fans, hats and various other accessories when performing.


SeungJeonmu Dance


SeungJeonmu Dance is one of the traditional South Korean dances which is also known as the victory dance. It is called the victory dance because this dance is performed by soldiers complete with swords while begging the gods to get victory in war.


Not only using a sword, SeungJeonmu Dance also uses drums or drums called Mugo in his performances. The sword in this dance is symbolized to absorb energy from heaven, while Mugo is a symbol of the yin-yang pattern which symbolizes the universe.
