Maybe you've heard the phrase on the internet quite often about 'selling a kidney to buy what you want'. Yup, this saying is quite often found on social media when someone wants to buy expensive things but doesn't have the money. But in fact, this expression actually occurs in the real world.
A village in Afghanistan's Herat City, namely Shenshayba Bazaar Village is known as one kidney village. It is called so because many local residents are willing to sell one kidney to fulfill their daily needs.
It is known that residents in this village sell one of their kidneys on the black market. The business of buying and selling human organs in Afghanistan is apparently regulated with written consent expressed by donors and doctors.
One of the residents, Nooruddin, was the one who sold his kidney. He admitted that he had to do it to support his children.
"I didn't want to, but I had to and had no other choice but to do it for my children," said Nooruddin.
However, Nooruddin regretted the decision. Because, now he can not use his body optimally for work. He was in pain and could not lift heavy things.
"Now I regret that I can no longer work. I feel pain and can't lift anything heavy," he continued.
Not only Nooruddin, there is also the confession of another resident who is also willing to sell his kidney to fulfill his daily needs. He admits to selling his kidney
