History and Origin of the Black Stone Called the Stone of Heaven

Hajar Aswad is a type of rock that is shiny and uneven. This stone is reddish black. In addition there are also yellow spots. Hajar Aswad is a kind of meteor rock.

According to the hadith narrated by Tirmidhi, the Black Stone is the stones of heaven. Some also call Hajar Aswad a volcanic rock.

This black stone is of course well known by most Muslims. Especially for the pilgrims. This stone also has a significant history in the development of Islam.

The Origin of Hajar Aswad

According to CNN , Hajar Aswad was brought from heaven and offered specifically to Prophet Ibrahim and placed in the corner of the Kaaba.

"The black stone came down from heaven and was whiter than milk, but the sin of the children of Adam turned it black." (HR Tirmidhi).

According to another history, Prophet Ibrahim received an order from Allah SWT to build the Kaaba which was the first place of worship built in the world.

In the book, Qishash al-Anbiyaa ', Ibn Kathir mentions that Prophet Ibrahim found an empty space to cover the wall. The empty space was discovered when the construction of the Kaaba was almost complete.

Then, Prophet Ibrahim asked his son, Prophet Ismail AS to find a stone to cover the empty space. Ismail also wandered around looking for stones.

While on the journey of the Prophet Ishmael met with the Angel Gabriel. Gabriel gave a black stone (Hajar Aswad) the best. Ismail then accepted the stone happily and told his father.

Ibrahim asked his son, "Where did you get this stone?" Ismail replied, "I got this stone from one that does not burden my grandchildren and great -grandchildren."

Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ishmael kissed the stone. From there, many Muslims perform the pilgrimage and hope to kiss the stone located in the east corner of the Kaaba.
