Instagram is introducing a new tag option that can show more details about someone who helped or credits a collaborator in a collaboration post or ad.
With this tag feature, they will show in detail their roles such as photographers, artists, and writers. So users can know who they are involved in posting the photo.
“Proper creative credit and recognition is the starting point for discovery, new opportunities and economic empowerment,” Instagram said in their blog post.
In announcing the updated tagging options, Instagram acknowledged that a lot of collaborator work is going into creating the content users see in the app.
"For many black and underrepresented creators, giving credit is the entry point to building a sustainable career as a creator, while fighting cultural discrimination and ensuring the world knows who is driving culture."
Instagram says the feature will be used to highlight behind-the-scenes creators who sometimes go unnoticed or unrecognized, such as makeup artists or songwriters.
The Tag feature is a more official way of displaying what some content creators have become accustomed to as reported by us from The Verge, Friday (11/3/2022).
To use the new enhanced tag, you need to tap 'Tag People' while creating a post. Then tap 'Add Tag' and search and select contributors.
Then you can select 'Show Profile Category' to display the creator category, such as 'stylist' or 'photographer'
Instagram users have come up with several DIY methods to credit the people involved in content creation.
Some users mention roles in post captions and tag collaborators there, while others have tagged a series of direct tags on posted photos or videos.
