The impact of the Russian invasion on Ukraine, the use of services from Instagram to WhatsApp was narrowed in the two countries that were at odds.
Meta, which is the parent company of various platforms, from Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, is currently limiting a number of accounts.
As reported by Engadget, Monday (28/2/2022) Meta took action against the accounts of Russian state media organizations.
Nick Cleeg, the company's head of global affairs, said the policy was at the request of the Ukrainian government.
"We have been in contact with the Government of Ukraine, and at their request, we have also restricted access to some accounts in Ukraine, including those owned by several Russian Government media organizations," Clegg said.
When further confirmed, Clegg did not reveal how they limit the accounts in question.
However, Clegg denied that his company stopped labeling and fact-checking his content, tantamount to silencing expressions.
"We believe shutting down our services will silence important expressions at a critical time," he said.
He added that as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues, Meta will continue to label and fact-check the content uploaded on its platform.
