Interested in Launching a Folding Screen Phone, Realme?

Last year, mobile phone vendors from China such as Xiaomi and Oppo have launched folding screen phones. So, when will Realme follow in the footsteps of its compatriots?

Vice President of Realme & President of Realme International Business Group Madhav Sheth said Realme certainly wants to develop the latest technological innovations.

He gave an example of how Realme developed fast charging technology at high speeds to the camera under the screen. But to present a folding screen phone, this Chinese vendor must see if the community needs such a device.

“We believe in any innovation, which has to be practical, which has to be durable, which has to be sustainable, and it has to be affordable,” Madhav said in an interview with us ahead of the MWC 2022 event.

"Our users are hard-line mobile users. We must be able to meet their needs," he continued.

Madhav said the most important thing to consider from a folding screen phone is whether its design will affect the user experience, for example when watching content or playing games.

Madhav did not answer specifically whether Realme is really developing a foldable phone. But in November 2021, a sketch of a Realme folding screen phone with a design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was revealed.

In the end, Madhav only said that if Realme did launch a foldable phone, it would be designed so that it doesn't affect the experience that users are looking for in a conventional phone.

"Innovation cannot just be innovation without use. Innovation must be useful, relevant must be affordable, and that is called innovation," he concluded.
