Apple released the iPhone SE 2022 as an update to the iPhone SE line, which is the cheapest iPhone series. How does it compare to other 'cheap' iPhones.
Cheap here is certainly not a really cheap price, but cheaper than other iPhones in its generation. For example, the iPhone 13 Mini, which is the cheapest compared to other iPhone 13 series. Even so, the price difference between the iPhone SE 2022 remains quite far from the 13 Mini.
In terms of design, the iPhone SE has no difference compared to the 2020 iPhone SE, because they both use the iPhone 8 body. This design certainly looks old-school compared to the more modern iPhone 13 Mini, including the flat edges of the body.
But fortunately, the SE 2022 also has a water and dust resistance certification, IP67 to be exact. Although the 13 Mini has a slightly higher certification, namely IP68.
Then about the dimensions, the 13 Mini has a smaller body than the SE 2022, but the screen size is even bigger. That is, 5.4 inches vs. 4.7 inches and a higher resolution, 1080p vs. 750p. The screen panel is also different, namely LCD in SE 2022 vs OLED in 13 Mini.
Regarding biometric security, the SE 2022 still relies on fingerprint-based Touch ID. While 13 Mini uses Face ID. But in this day and age, when everyone (should) wear a mask on the go, Touch ID seems like the better option. Although Apple continues to improve the ability of Face ID so that it can detect the user's face even though he is wearing a mask.
Internal storage is also a weakness of the SE 2022, where the cheapest variant only has 64GB of storage, while the 13 Mini is 128GB. With the size of the application getting bigger, it feels like 64GB is no longer enough for today.
The performance of the SE 2022 and 13 Mini should be relatively the same, as they both feature the same A15 Bionic SoC. In this sector, it must be recognized that the SE 2022 is superior to other mobile phones, including Android.
The iOS that the SE 2022 and 13 Mini use are both iOS 15, and Apple guarantees a fairly long update, we quoted from Phone Arena, Wednesday (9/3/2022).
In the camera sector, the SE 2022 only has one rear camera, while the 13 Mini has two cameras, a main camera and an ultrawide camera. However, SE 2022 can still enjoy computational photography from the A15 Bionic chip used. Supposedly, the quality of the photos will be qualified.
For battery life, according to Apple's claims, the 2022 SE can last 15 hours to play videos, while the 13 Mini has 17 hours. For video streaming the comparison is 10 hours vs 13 hours. Not far apart, and both can be recharged at nearly 20W of power.
With a comparison like that, which one do you think is more worth buying, the iPhone SE 2022 at a price of USD 400 for the 64GB variant or the iPhone 13 Mini 128GB which costs USD 700?
