iPhone SE 2022 vs iPhone SE 2020, What's the Difference?

Apple has announced the iPhone SE 2022 aka the latest edition of this cheapest iPhone. Previously there have been two iPhone SE series, the last time was the iPhone SE which came out in 2020.

So, what's the difference between iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone SE 2020? Here's a comparison we compiled:

Design

The iPhone SE 2022 can be said to be identical in appearance to the iPhone SE 2020. The back is made of slightly stronger glass now, wrapped in a metal frame and there are physical buttons for Touch ID. Then there is a single rear camera.

The biggest difference is, as already mentioned, stronger glass on both the back and front, as is the case with the iPhone 13. Apart from that it is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance, but neither has MagSafe charging technology like the one on the iPhone 13.

Screen

The iPhone SE 2022 has a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels, with a pixel density of 326 ppi (pixels per inch). The panel remains LCD instead of the more brilliant OLED. Then embedded 60Hz standard refresh rate.

The screen is exactly the same as the iPhone SE 2020, in terms of size, panel, and resolution. Both have several screen technologies such as True Tone and Haptic Touch.

Hardware

iPhone SE 2022 uses the A15 processor, the same chip as the brain of the iPhone 13. In addition, 5G connectivity is also provided.

There are 3 variants of internal storage provided, namely 64 GB. 128GB and 256GB. While the battery is upgraded to be more durable, 15 hours of video streaming. iPhone SE 2022 supports wireless charging, but not MagSafe.

The iPhone SE 2020 runs the A13 Bionic processor with 4G connectivity. In terms of performance, those who upgrade to the iPhone SE 2022 will experience a significant improvement.

Like the iPhone SE 2022, the iPhone SE 2020 also comes with 3 variants of internal memory. The battery is less durable, 13 hours of video streaming, but also supports wireless battery charging outside of MagSafe, the same as the iPhone SE 2022.

Camera

The third generation iPhone SE is embedded with a single camera, with a resolution of 12 megapixel wide sensor, f / 1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. On the front, there is a 7 megapixel camera which is the same as the iPhone SE 2020.

Several new features are provided by Apple for the iPhone SE 2022, such as Deep Fusion, Photographic Styles, in addition to Portrait and Portrait Lightning modes. But there is no Cinematic mode like on the iPhone 13, nor is Night Mode.

The iPhone SE 2020 is also equipped with a single 12-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and optical image stabilization. There are also Portrait and Portrait Lightning modes.

The front camera is 7 megapixels. The difference with the iPhone SE 2022, there is no latest Deep Fusion or Photographic Style features.

Conclusion

Although the design between the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone SE 2020 is the same, it can even be said to be old school, the inside is the difference. The iPhone SE 2022 has the same powerful A15 Bionic brain as the iPhone 13, as well as 5G connectivity.

The battery of the iPhone SE 2022 is also slightly more durable, as well as some improvements in the camera department even though it is still single-lensed. The iPhone SE 2022 can also be a pretty attractive alternative for those who want a new iPhone but the available budget is limited. Of course if they don't have a problem with its obsolete form.
