The latest visual of Mount Anak Krakatau from outer space has been released. When immortalized, the active volcano was observed to be 'burping'.
Plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the Anak Krakatau crater, as captured by the European Sentinel 2 satellite on Monday (28/3).
For information, the European Sentinel 2 satellite is an Earth observation mission run by the European Space Agency (ESA) through the Copernicus program for land, sea monitoring, mapping of natural disasters, rising sea levels, and others.
From this satellite image, it appears that the mountain in the Sunda Strait seems to have begun to reshape after being destroyed after a great eruption in 2018. At that time, the eruption triggered a tsunami that hit the mainland in Banten.
Mount Anak Krakatau is even reported to have erupted by spitting out volcanic ash as high as two kilometers.

"The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau occurred on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 05.26 WIB with an ash column height of ± 2,000 M above the peak (± 2,157 M above sea level)," the Geological Agency report said as quoted on Friday (25/25). 3).
According to the monitoring of the Anak Krakatau Volcano Monitoring Post in Pasauran, Serang Regency, volcanic ash is gray to black. The ash burst towards the east of the volcano in the Sunda Strait.
"The ash column was observed to be gray to black with thick intensity towards the east. This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 56 mm and a duration of 176 seconds," he wrote.
The second eruption occurred two hours after the first eruption. At 07.04 WIB, Mount Anak Krakatau erupted for the second time, this eruption was recorded to be smaller than the first. The ash column is 1 kilometer high above the crater.
"The ash column was observed to be gray to black with thick intensity towards the east. This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 56 mm and a duration of 49 seconds," he said.
Volcano authorities forbid the public or tourists to approach the crater within a radius of 2 kilometers from the crater. The current status of Mount Anak Krakatau is at level II or Alert.
