Metaverse is now one of the most talked about technology trends. Many technology companies are then involved in working on this virtual world. Will Realme be one of them?
To us, Vice President of Realme & President of Realme International Business Group Madhav Sheth said Realme is interested in entering the metaverse area, but currently there is no active development.
"We haven't started developing anything for the metaverse yet, for now that's what I would say," Madhav said in an interview ahead of Mobile World Congress 2022.
"But of course as I said, if user needs increase for sure we will work on it," he continued.
Madhav said that if Realme plunged into the world of the metaverse, it would not be done just to join in. This Chinese brand will ensure that not only companies are ready, but the entire ecosystem that supports the metaverse.
An important part of the metaverse are virtual reality (VR) headsets. As a hardware manufacturer, Madhav said Realme could develop these devices but it all depends on other parts of the ecosystem such as software and the developer community.
"We will of course be part of this community. About when, when we are ready because there is a lot of research and development," said Madhav.
"So it's not just about realizing the metaverse, but also whether we're part of the whole development community and making sure that these parts, as an ecosystem, can work together."
