Oppo also enlivened the MWC 2022 stage by showing off the SuperVOOC 240W flash charge. This is the fastest mobile charging technology in the world today.
The 240W SUPERVOOC can charge a 4,500mAh battery to 100% in about 9 minutes. When comparing the 200W fast charging technology Xiaomi demonstrated last year it can charge a 4000mAh battery to 100% in 8 minutes.
Unfortunately Oppo did not reveal when OPPO would start implementing the 240W SUPERVOOC charging technology on its phones.
On the same occasion, Oppo also released the 150 SuperVOOC Flash Charge with BHE technology. In laboratory tests, this technology was able to charge a 4,500 mAh battery to 50% in 5 minutes and charge to 100% in just 15 minutes.
In comparison, the older 65W charger took about 40 minutes to reach 100%.
Oppo also presents two technologies that reduce worries about battery life. First, the Battery Health Engine technology, which debuted last week on the Oppo Find X5 series.
The technology uses a special chip to help maintain battery performance at 80% of its original capacity after as many as 1,600 charge cycles, doubling the current industry standard of 800 cycles, the company said.
Second, there is Battery Healing technology. The battery design used by Oppo includes the Solid Electrolyte Interface (SEI), a durable coating on the battery electrodes that protects it from degradation.
Battery Healing carries a special formula for electrolytes that continuously repairs the SEI layer while the battery is being charged and discharged. This keeps the electrodes in good condition, which improves battery performance and extends its life.
To support this new technology, Oppo introduced a 150W SuperVOOC charger. Thanks to its GaN technology, this charger measures 58 x 57 x 30 mm and weighs 172g.
It's not much bigger than Oppo's old 65W SuperVOOC adapter. The adapter has a power density of 1.51W/cm³, much higher than a typical charger.
The charger also supports PPS, PD, and QC protocols that allow users to quickly charge tablets, laptops, and mobile game consoles.
The 150W SuperVOOC Flash Charge will be demonstrated at the Oppo and OnePlus booths at MWC from February 28 to March 3. The technology will launch on the HP OnePlus in Q2 2022.
