Riot Games Donates Up to USD 3 million for Ukraine

 


Riot Games has raised more than USD 3 million to donate to Ukraine and Eastern Europe. The amount is the result of a combination of game sales and internal collection.

"Thanks to players around the world, who have raised more than USD 2 million to support aid in Eastern Europe so far. With contributions from Riot, the total is more than USD 3 million to date," wrote Riot Games, quoted by us from social media, Monday (14/3/2022).


These results were obtained, through purchases made by gamers, of several titles made by Riot Games. Where more leads to the battle pass game Valorant, League of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends: Wild Rift.


"The war in Ukraine, has caused a widespread humanitarian crisis. Since its inception, we have heard from players around the world, that they want to help, so do we," wrote Riot Games.


They did fundraising, from 5 to 12 March. Currently, the well-known developer and publisher has not announced the total that has been collected. Because the figure of USD 2 million, was obtained in just four days from a total of at least seven days the event was held.



Riot Games revealed, that USD 1 million, of their personal money, will be donated to several institutions. There are known International Medical Corps, Doctors Without Borders and Polish Red Cross.


"All proceeds from Riot's donations and player fundraising, will directly support humanitarian assistance in Ukraine and other affected areas," said Riot Games.


This is the umpteenth time help from the game industry. Currently, the indie game marketplace, itch.io, is also doing the same thing. They took the initiative, raising money for charities in Ukraine, through the sale of more than 900 bundled titles.
