Samsung started selling phones without a charger when it launched the Galaxy S21 series. They followed Apple's lead to make their phones eco-friendly, and now all Samsung's flagship phones are no longer sold with built-in chargers.
Mid-range phones in the Galaxy A and Galaxy M series are still sold with a charger in the box. But it looks like this policy will not last long.
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy A13 5G and Galaxy A03s in the United States. According to information on the official Samsung US website, these two phones do not have a charger in the box.
In the 'What's in the box' section of Samsung's US online store, the packaging box for the Galaxy A13 5G and Galaxy A03s only contains the phone, USB-C cable and ejector pin.
While in the 'Key features' section there is a footnote that says that the charger for this phone is sold separately and it is recommended to use a Samsung charger and cable.
"Chargers are sold separately; only use Samsung-approved chargers and cables. To avoid damage to your device, do not use incompatible, worn, or damaged chargers or cables," the note reads, as quoted by Phone Arena, Wednesday (9/9). /3/2022).
In addition to the two phones, tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore said via Twitter that several European retailers wrote that the Galaxy A13, Galaxy A23, Galaxy M23, and Galaxy M33 would be sold without a charger in the box. On the material press page for the Galaxy A23 it is also written that the 25W Super Fast Charging charger is sold separately.
The same note was found on the Galaxy A13, but not on the Galaxy M23 and Galaxy M33, indicating that they will still be sold with a charger. For reference, the Galaxy A52 page also doesn't have that note, and the phone is still being sold with a charger.
It is not yet known whether Samsung will eliminate chargers in all the boxes of its mid-range and entry-level phones, and whether this new policy will be implemented in more countries. What do you think about Samsung's decision to sell cheap cellphones without chargers?
