Mackenzie Scott is definitely very generous. The widow of Jeff Bezos, owner of online store Amazon, has donated so much money to charity.
Mackenzie, who divorced Bezos in 2019, is indeed an extraordinary fortune because he gets a share of Amazon shares. To be precise, he got about 4% of the shares of the world's largest online shop. Forbes also estimates that his entire wealth is currently in the range of USD 50 billion.
As quoted by us from Market Watch, Wednesday (30/3/2022), it is estimated that until now, Mackenzie, who has remarried, has donated a total of USD 12 billion for various humanitarian actions.
It was clear that Mackenzie was among the most generous people in the United States. Most of his donations go to the organizations he supports.
In 2019, Mackenzie Scott joined The Giving Pledge and committed to donating half of his wealth to charities. The Giving Pledge was created by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates in 2010 to encourage the world's billionaires to share their wealth with those in need.
Most recently, Mackenzie Scott, announced that he has donated more than USD 3.8 billion to 465 organizations. This donation was made in the span of only the last nine months.
In his blog post on Medium, Scott said his donation goes to various nonprofits. But he stressed that his team is focused on supporting organizations that help under-represented voices.
"Our team's focus over the past nine months has covered several new areas, but as always, our goal is to support the needs of underrepresented people from all groups," wrote Mackenzie Scott.
