Samsung Employee Arrested for Stealing Company Secrets

A Samsung employee was reportedly arrested for allegedly stealing trade secrets and some classified information about the company. Samsung has also confirmed this case and is currently investigating the matter.

The unnamed employee is reported to have taken photos of classified information regarding the chip-making process. Unfortunately, the South Korean tech giant has not revealed in detail about this issue.

"The person is being investigated for violating the rules of information protection. However, it is not yet known what kind of information was stolen and whether the person handed it over to a third party," said a Samsung spokesperson as quoted by Gizmochina.

Until now, the employee who was set to leave Samsung Electronics was accused of taking pictures of computer screens that had sensitive information related to the company's chip manufacturing process. He did it while he was working from home.

The employee took the picture because the database system blocked the screenshot, prompting him to use his cell phone to record confidential information.

As per media reports, the employee has managed to photograph hundreds of trade secrets which hints that it is possible the employee took these photos to sell to competitors.

In particular, chip fabrication information may even be related to advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes, which can be associated with 5nm or even 3nm chips. Unfortunately, that's the only detail that can be conveyed, there may be more detailed information about him in the near future.
