Sony Makes Sure This Feature Is Coming Soon on PS5

Sony ensures that the variable refresh rate (VRR) feature will soon be presented on the PlayStation 5 (PS5) in the next few months.

This VRR feature will synchronize the screen refresh rate to the PS5's graphics output, and will reduce visual artifacts, screen tearing, and frame pacing issues. Even Sony promises this feature will also be available for games that do not support VRR.

Sony announced this VRR plan when it released the latest software update for PS5 and PS4, as quoted by The Verge.

"Gameplay in many PS5 games will feel smoother because images are rendered instantly, graphics also look crisper and input is reduced," wrote Sony in its official blog post.

"PS5 games that have been released will also be fully optimized with VRR through game patches and future games will also support VRR since launch," added the Japanese company.

However, Sony also confirmed that PS5 users will be able to apply the use of VRR to games that don't officially support the feature, and may improve image quality in some games.

"If this results in an unexpected visual effect, you can turn this option off at any time," explains Sony. This VRR is expected to improve image quality for games like Elden Ring, which initially had performance issues on the PS5.

Sony did not mention an exact date for the presence of this VRR feature on the PS5, and only said the feature would be released in the next few months. For information, in early February, Sony began testing the voice command feature on the PS5 in the beta stage, and now the feature has been released in full.

Perhaps, Sony will beta test the VRR feature in the near future, and will release it to the public in the next few months.

In the latest PS5 and PS4 software update coming on March 23, 2022, Sony added a number of new features, and also updated the interface for Game Base and Trophy cards. Also features mono audio for headphones.

Especially for PS5 owners in America and England, there is a voice command feature that can be tested to open games and applications, as well as control the video and audio being played.
