Coffee and tea lovers, Starbucks might be one of the brands you go for. Not only the products, but also the comfortable place, perfect for working from a cafe.

If you like take away, it seems that this news is a must for you to know. Because Starbucks plans to stop the supply of single-use cups. It aims to reduce waste.

"Our glasses are everywhere, and we love them. But it's also a symbol of a society that litters," said Starbucks Chief Sustainability Officer Michael Kobori as quoted by CNN, (15/3).

He later revealed, when the glass is thrown away, it ends up in the trash. And not infrequently the garbage is on roads and waterways. Maybe there are some that are recycled, but recycling is also not perfect because there are still leftovers that become waste.

Estimated in 2025

Kobori explained that because of these things, Starbucks wants to stop providing single-use cups by 2025. Therefore, the company wants each customer to have their own drink holder or borrow reusable mugs from Starbucks.

This, he continued, would mean launching a mug-lending program that requires a deposit. In addition, Starbucks is also planning and slowly getting used to its customers to abandon single-use cups, because radical changes are not considered the right option.

The Risk of Exposure to Covid-19, Here's the Explanation

By the end of 2023, Starbucks will let customers use personal mugs at every Starbucks in the US and Canada, whether they order at an outlet or drive thru, then the company will slowly make the use of paper and plastic cups less attractive.

This is because, according to Kobori, most customers are used to single-use options, but the company also has plans that are more environmentally friendly.

You can start getting used to carrying your own tumbler everywhere. Or have you been doing it for the past few years?
