The female metal band from Garut, Voice of Baceprot, admitted that they were often branded various things by julid netizens. However, they take the stereotypes lightly and focus on their work, and they can even prove that netizens' cruel accusations are not true.
"Being a woman has to be braver. There's a lot (of stigma - ed), even to this day we grow up with various perceptions. But indeed, most people are told to stop playing music because many think it's not suitable," said Firdda Marsya Kurnia, vocalist and VoB guitarist on the sidelines of the 'Virtual Press Briefing #YukBukaSuara with Google', Monday (7/2/2022).
The trio, consisting of Firdda Marsya, Widi Rahmawati (base) and Euis Siti Aisyah (drummer) said that they had been overshadowed by fear. Moreover, the struggles they face are not easy.
"Metal is also said to have a bad influence, what needs to be underlined is not metal but what the music itself conveys. We intend to provide good things such as gender equality. We believe that music has its own language," said Marsya.
Not to mention the physical looks they received from netizens. Sometimes, it seems strange to think that metal musicians should have long hair and tattoos. In fact, this is not always the case, they are all even veiled.
"People sometimes forget that we show our abilities," he said.
Furthermore, Marsya said that the VoB band doesn't really care about what the haters say. They only focus on providing the best in the world of music.
"Haters gonna hate," said Marsya, followed by laughter from her friends.
