GIF is one of the most shared media by Twitter users. If normally GIFs on Twitter only contain memes or moments from TV series and movies, now users can create their own GIFs directly from the phone's camera.
Twitter announced that users can now create GIFs directly from the camera in the Twitter app for iOS. This feature will be useful for users who want to share short clips but are reluctant to upload full videos.
It's easy to create and share GIFs created directly in the Twitter app. First click the Compose button just like when creating a new tweet, then click the camera button.
There will be three options to choose from, namely photos, videos, and GIFs. Press and hold the Record button to record a GIF, but remember it's only a few seconds long.
When you're done recording the GIF, you'll have the option to play the GIF in full from start to finish and then repeat it again, or make a Boomerang-style on Instagram that plays full and then rewinds over and over again, as quoted from TechCrunch.
Once the GIF is complete, Twitter will instantly save it to your camera roll. But it looks like this GIF can't be shared on other platforms, because Twitter doesn't provide an option to save the GIF on your phone or computer.
Currently, the feature of creating Twitter GIFs directly from the phone's camera is only available on iOS. When asked when this feature will be available on Android, Twitter spokeswoman Stephanie Cortez said Twitter would collect relevant feedback to determine future updates, but did not provide an estimated schedule.
This is the latest feature that Twitter has released in recent months. Some of the features that users may have missed include the option to upload sound clips from Spaces and the controversial new timeline algorithm that was pulled back by Twitter,
