Ukrainian government wants to sell NFT to fund war against Russia

The Ukrainian government has a new way of raising funds for its military to deal with Russian troops. One of them is with a plan to sell NFT or nin fungible tokens.

As quoted by us from the BBC, Friday (4/3/2022) Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that the NFT to support the struggle of the Ukrainian armed forces will be launched soon.

"We will announce the NFT to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he announced on Twitter.

However, it has not been explained what form of NFT will be sold by the Ukrainian government later. NFT itself is known as digital assets such as photos, videos, illustrations, and others that can be purchased.

NFT makes it possible to digitize artwork assets and other collectibles into verifiable and easily tradable assets using blockchain.

On the other hand, previously, quite a number of people had donated Bitcoin for Ukraine. Some time ago, Bitcoin worth USD 400,000 was donated to Come Back Alive, a Ukrainian non-governmental organization that provides assistance to the armed forces.

Another group, the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance, has received $100,000 in bitcoin, litecoin, ether and other stablecoins since last year. Since 2016, activists belonging to this group have launched cyber attacks on Russia.

"Cryptocurrencies are increasingly being used to raise funds for war, with the tacit approval of governments," said Elliptic Chief Scientist Tom Robinson of the phenomenon.

Bitcoin is starting to become a popular choice, because payments can be made without having to go through the rules of financial institutions that might hinder the processing of payments to Ukraine.
