Elon Musk often makes tense statements about Russia and its president Vladimir Putin. This time, he said he was still less rich than Putin.
It is known, Vladimir Putin is indeed a person who is reluctant to open up about his wealth to the public. No one knows for sure how big his treasure is.
Quoted from Business Insider, Mathias Döpfner CEO of Insider's parent company, Axel Springer, had asked how Elon Musk felt when he was called the richest person in the world with a fortune of USD 260 billion, according to the official version of Forbes and others. Quickly, Musk answered.
"I think that Putin is significantly richer than I am," said the SpaceX and Tesla boss.
No one knows for sure the wealth of Vladimir Putin. But many sources attribute a number of assets of bombastic value to Putin. Vladimir Putin has been linked with a $1.4 billion palace on the Black Sea and a $4 million Monaco apartment. Financial expert Bill Browder also testified in 2017 that he believed Putin had raised at least $200 billion in an illegal way.
After Putin's invasion of Ukraine, the US and Western countries have implemented sanctions targeting Russia, Putin's main ally, and the Russian president himself. In Musk's discussion with Döpfner about the Putin invasion, Musk agreed that Putin should be stopped.
"I think the American government has done more than people might realize. But that's not very common. But it's important to do something serious. We can't let Putin take over Ukraine. This is crazy," he concluded.
