5 wild predictions of Elon Musk, some have come true

SpaceX and Tesla boss Elon Musk has a very free -- and wild mind. He did not hesitate to write down all his predictions to the public and it turned out to be true, some of his assumptions came true. The billionaire, nicknamed Iron Man in the real world, talks about anything, from outer space to cryptocurrencies.

Launching Fortune, here are a number of predictions from Elon Musk, some of which are close to reality. Anything surprised you?

1. The dangers of artificial intelligence

Musk predicted in 2014 that artificial intelligence (AI) could become a human threat, warning the tech sector to be careful. He conveyed this on Twitter as well as several media. According to Musk, it will take 5-10 years for something dangerous to happen.

"Please note that I'm usually super pro-tech, and never raised this issue until the last few months. This is not a case of hype about something I don't understand," Musk quoted CNBC as saying.

2. Humans on Mars

When will humans be able to live on Planet Mars? Elon Musk said, the answer is in 2029. This he revealed in a reply to a tweet on Twitter.

Not the first time, in 2016, Musk believed that millions of humans could colonize Mars by 2060. However, no human has ever set foot on Mars. At least until April 2022.

3. Tesla is bigger than Apple

In a tweet last year, Musk predicted that his electric car company Tesla would be bigger than Apple. This was opened from a tweet intended to reply to a tweet from a netizen.

"I think there's a >0% chance Tesla could become the biggest company," Elon Musk replied. However, this prediction has not been proven even though Tesla's stock price is indeed increasing

4. Space tourism will become commonplace

Musk believes that there is opportunity in outer space. Last year, at the 2021 Code Conference, he said he had a goal of building multiplanetary humans, aka being able to move from one planet to another. This prediction seems to be starting to hit the mark. In 2023, SpaceX will launch Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa into space, according to the BBC.

5. Cryptocurrencies are inexhaustible

Still at Code Conference 2021, Musk said that it was 'impossible to destroy crypto'. He also said that it seems that China doesn't like cryptocurrencies. He speculated that this could be partly due to a shortage of electricity, but could also be due to reduced powers of centralized government. Despite these conflicting views on cryptocurrency, the company's relationship with China is growing rapidly.

"We are doing well with sales in the Chinese market as well as introducing cars for China and for export to Europe," he said.

With the increasing popularity of the currency, it can be confirmed that cryptocurrencies are not going anywhere for now.
