The history of Apple's founding

Apple was founded on April 1, 1976 by 3 people, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Ownership of the company was initially divided into three people with Wozniak and Jobs each owning 45% while Wayne owned 10% of the company’s shares.


But the third founder, Ronald Wayne, left the company just 12 days after it was set up with a value of USD800 at the time.

Wayne's decision to leave Apple was a huge loss. Now, the same 10% stake in Apple is worth more than USD95 Billion. If Wayne was still with Apple, he might be one of the richest people in the world.


2. Did you know that Ronald wayne also sold his contract with Apple for USD500 which was later auctioned as high as USD1.59 million?


Although he has never regretted leaving Apple, Wayne still regrets having sold his original contract with Apple that he kept from 1976 for many years. Around the early 90s, he rediscovered the deal in a cabinet that had been littered with dust and fences. Thinking there was no reason for him to keep the document again, he sold it for USD500.


Did you know, according to "The Filthy Rich Guide," the contract was auctioned in 2011 for USD1.59 Million. That was among the biggest regrets Wayne will never forget in his entire life.


3. Apple Shares Listed 40 Years Ago At A Price Of USD22 Per Unit

Apple was listed on the public market on December 12, 1980 at a price of USD22 per unit at the time. The stock has experienced a share split 4 times since the IPO. So after adjusting according to the split of 4 times, the IPO price is USD0.39.


4. Apple Became The First US Company To Achieve A Market Cap Of USD2 Trillion



On August 19, Apple became the first US company to have a market capitalization (Market Cap) of USD2 trillion. This was driven by Apple's share price which at that time reached the All-Time High level of USD115.71 per unit.


Despite reaching the All-Time High, Apple's share price did not stop there but continued to rise to higher levels.


5. Apple has done a share split 5 times, since December 12, 1980

Share split means the share price becomes more affordable to small investors with unchanged share value. For example, let's say the value of a unit of company A's shares is RM1.


And if the company does a share split of 2 units of shares for every 1 unit of shares, then he now holds 2 units of shares at a price of RM0.50.



6. Did you know that counters on Bursa Malaysia are related to Apple?

The list of Apple -related semiconductor component manufacturing companies are Globetronics Technology Berhad (Gtronics), Inari Amerton Berhad (Inari) and Malaysia Pacific Industries (MPI).


What is Apple's relationship with Inari? Inari is a Penang -based company known as a vendor that assembles and tests goods for the United States -based Broadcom Inc company. Broadcom supplies goods and services to Apple. Most of Inari's revenue comes from this Broadcom company.


So indirectly, when the demand for Apple products increases, Apple shares increase, Broadcom's sales to Apple increase, then Inari's revenue also increases.


7. Apple has been the largest stock in the S&P 500 since 1986
