WhatsApp is now the preferred method of communication for billions of people in the world. But there are times when WhatsApp has problems that make it difficult for users to communicate.
There are various problems that are commonly experienced by WhatsApp, ranging from not being able to open to not being able to send or receive messages. The causes also vary, such as connectivity problems, storage, outdated applications, and others.
Instead of worrying about finding out what's causing your WhatsApp error, here we summarize nine ways to deal with problematic WhatsApp, as quoted from Android Police, Sunday (17/4/2022).
1. Close and reopen WhatsApp
The first thing you need to try when WhatsApp has problems is to close and reopen the application. WhatsApp might be experiencing a temporary malfunction, so simply restart the app to fix the problem.
It's easy, first tap the Overview button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold it. After that find the WhatsApp application in the list and swipe up to close it. Reopen WhatsApp by clicking the application icon in the phone menu.
2. Force close WhatsApp
If closing and reopening WhatsApp like the method above doesn't solve the problem, you can try the force close method. To do this, open the Settings app on your phone and scroll down until you find the Apps option.
Look for WhatsApp in the application list, click it then select the Force Stop option and click Ok. Reopen WhatsApp by clicking the application icon in the phone menu.
3. Restart the phone
Although somewhat trivial, restarting the phone can sometimes solve various problems on the cellphone, including the WhatsApp error. The method is of course easy, just press the power button for a few seconds then select the Restart option. After the phone restarts, open WhatsApp by clicking the application icon in the phone menu.
4. Check internet connection
When WhatsApp cannot receive or send messages, one of the causes is a problem with the internet connection. Make sure your phone has an active internet connection, either via mobile data or Wi-Fi.
5. Check application updates
Applications like WhatsApp sometimes get errors after a long time not being updated. Make sure that the WhatsApp you are using is the latest version by opening the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and searching for Whatsapp in the search bar.
If there is an Update button, it means that there is a newer version of WhatsApp available for download. Click the button to download and install the latest version of WhatsApp.
6. Clear cache
Caching is a computational method to make sure your phone doesn't load the same data. This is not only to prevent downloading additional data but also to speed up the loading time of the app.
But sometimes the cache can be problematic, causing the application to not load properly. To clear the WhatsApp cache, it's easy, first open the Settings application then scroll and look for the Apps option.
Search for WhatsApp in the available search bar then click it. After that click the Storage option and select Clear cache.
7. Check the internal memory capacity
Internal memory that is running low can affect WhatsApp's performance and make you unable to send or receive messages. It's easy, first open the Settings app on your phone.
Then scroll until you find the Storage or Storage and data option. Manually delete unused data to free up space, or use the available storage manager.
8. Check if WhatsApp is down
If all the methods above have been used but WhatsApp is still having problems, it's time to check the status of the WhatsApp server. Meta does not have a service to determine whether WhatsApp is down or not, but you can use the Downdetector service.
The service relies on user reports to map issues regarding the status of various applications and services in many countries. Users can also report whether the problem they are experiencing is on the mobile or desktop version of WhatsApp.
9. Make sure your WhatsApp account is active
The last thing you can check to solve a problematic WhatsApp is to make sure your account is still active. As is known, WhatsApp accounts will be turned off automatically after 120 days of inactivity.
In this case, the only solution is to create a new WhatsApp account. The reason is that currently neither Meta nor WhatsApp has an option to restore an account that has been turned off.
So that's nine ways to deal with WhatsApp which has problems with various causes. I hope the tips above can help you!
