Besides Bruce Willis, These 6 World Celebrities Also Have Aphasia

The world of international entertainment was enlivened by the news of Bruce Willis' retirement from acting. The 67-year-old actor decided to retire because he suffers from aphasia, a brain disorder that affects cognitive abilities, such as speaking and walking.

From among the world's celebrities, it turns out that Bruce Willis is not the only one who has suffered from aphasia! Here are 6 celebrities who suffer from aphasia and have their own way of dealing with it.

Emilia Clarke

Shortly after filming Game of Thrones season one, Clarke suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of stroke caused by bleeding into the space around the brain.

After undergoing surgery, Clarke noticed that his speech was impaired. This incident led Clarke to found Same You, a charity that helps stroke and brain injury survivors.

Sharon Stone

After suffering a stroke in 2001, the Basic Instinct actress had trouble walking and speaking. It took Stone 2 years to adapt to the changes that occurred within him. This makes Stone work harder to open up other parts of his mind and make him feel stronger.

Randy Travis

Randy Travis had a stroke in 2013. As a result, Travis had trouble speaking and walking. In his 2019 memoir, Travis recounts the frustrations he experienced with aphasia.

People advised Travis to give up, but Travis continued to struggle with writing song lyrics. In 2021, Travis released his first song since suffering a stroke entitled There's A New Kid in Town.

Gabby Giffords

After falling victim to a shooting at a constituent assembly, Giffords decided to become an advocate for limiting gun violence. Paralyzed and suffering from aphasia, Giffords responded with fortitude and determination.

Dick Clark

The American Bandstand host had a stroke in December 2004 which left him paralyzed on one side of the body and had speech problems. This situation made Clark's condition worse.

He had to learn to walk and talk on his own. But thanks to his persistence, Clark returned to host New Year's Rockin' Eve in 2005. Clark died in 2012 after suffering a heart attack.

Glen Campbell

Although aphasia is often associated with stroke and brain injury, it can also result from disorders that affect the brain, such as Alzheimer's. This condition was experienced by Glen Campbell.

Campbell lost the ability to speak for several months before dying in 2017. Campbell could not communicate verbally. However, Campbell understands the universal language of love, such as hugs and smiles.
