However, there are many ways to prevent this from happening. One of them is by not giving the One Time Password (OTP) code to anyone. The reason is, the OTP code sent via SMS to the user's mobile number is a password that only the user may know and is confidential.
If the OTP code falls into the wrong hands, the account can be taken over and misused. Some time ago, Cyber Police also reminded this. Users must enable the two-stage authentication feature on their social media accounts. Likewise with WhatsApp.
By performing two-stage authentication, criminals find it difficult to access accounts because they do not know the PIN used. Then, how to enable two-stage verification?
Open WhatsApp;
Click the three-dot icon in the top right corner;
Select the Settings menu;
Select the Account menu;
Select Two-step Verification;
Select enable;
Create a PIN as desired.
WhatsApp will ask to enter the e-mail address associated with the account. This is used when you want to change your PIN.
