Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Microsoft founder Bill Gates are among the richest people. It turned out that there was a surprising habit of the two people, namely they both liked to wash dishes.
Bezos and Gates once said that washing dishes and glasses is a routine they do. Yet if they want, they just leave the task to someone else.
"I wash the dishes every day. I'm pretty sure it's the sexiest thing I do," Bezos said in an interview, which was quoted by us from Business Insider.
Bill Gates once also said the same thing. In fact, he admits that he enjoys washing dishes, not because he has to.
"I wash the dishes every night. Other people volunteer for it, but I like to do it my way," said Bill Gates.
It is not clear whether to this day the two of them still like to do this activity and the conditions are different, considering that they are already divorced from their respective wives. However, it turns out that washing dishes is indeed a useful activity.
This seemingly trivial activity according to some studies can increase creativity and make you relax. Florida State University research shows that students who wash dishes reduce stress levels and trigger inspiration. The feeling of warm water and the smell of soap can stimulate the brain.
The researchers found that those who did the dishes with a focus, such as smelling the soap, feeling the temperature of the water, and being aware of touching a plate or glass, increased their inspiration by about 25% and decreased nervousness by 27 percent.
"Meanwhile, those who carelessly wash the dishes do not get any benefit from these activities. It seems that daily activities if done with intention and consciously can improve the level of focus," the study wrote.
