DM Instagram Arrival of Many New Features, What are they?

Instagram brings seven new features for Direct Messages (DM). One of them is the option to reply to DMs directly from the feed without needing to open the DM menu.

The seven new features were launched months after Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri announced that the Meta-owned social media platform would focus on developing messaging this year.

Some of these new Instagram DM features are carried over from Facebook Messenger. This is not surprising considering that in recent years Meta has been trying to integrate Instagram DMs and Messenger.

As quoted from TechCrunch, Friday (1/4/2022) the seven new features launched for Instagram DMs are:

Music sharing: Users can share 30-second music clips in chat thanks to Instagram's integration with Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify.

Reply while browsing: Users can reply to incoming messages directly from the Feed, without the need to stop browsing to open the inbox.

Quick sending: Users can tap and hold the share button to share the post with four closest friends.

Status: At the top of your inbox you can see a list of friends who are online, similar to how it looks on Messenger.

Silent messages: Users can send messages to their friends without disturbing them, for example when they are busy or sleeping. The only way is to add '@silent' in the message.

Lo-fi chat theme: A new theme designed to personalize chats.

Polls: Users can use the Poll sticker to make a direct vote in a group chat.

It should be noted that some of these new features will only be available to users who have upgraded to the latest version of Instagram DMs introduced in the fall of 2020. Instagram says that only the music sharing, theme chat, and quick-send features can be accessed by users who haven't upgraded. to DM the new version.

A line of new features for Instagram DMs rolled out shortly after they shut down the messaging app Thread in December 2021. At that time they said they would be bringing some of Threads' unique features to the main Instagram app.

These new Instagram features will not be immediately available to all users. Instagram says the new feature will initially be available in a few countries before rolling out globally.
