The science of data and data analysis has a broader function than just a branch of science. Both knowledge can also be used to support the performance of an organization.
There are many reasons behind these conditions and problems. This prompted SAS to initiate a study of 277 managers and data researchers which showed that approximately two thirds of respondents were satisfied with the results of their analytical projects.
Meanwhile, some other respondents expressed that there are still big obstacles that make it difficult to apply data-based systems in today's organizational environment. Reporting from Forbes, the following are the main causes.
Company Politics
Conflicts and differences in political interests in fighting for power within the company are the main causes behind the inhibition of maximum data utilization. This was revealed by 46% of individuals from the total number of respondents studied by SAS.
Politics within the company affects management and the lack of financial support for various projects being worked on, including project management and analysis for the use of data.
Biased Data
The research led by SAS also found the fact revealed by 43% of respondents that the companies they work for do not carry out special reviews to ensure that the data they process and analyze is free from bias and discrimination.
Results Not Used by Executives
This reason was expressed by 42% of respondents from a study conducted by SAS. Experts who handle and develop data and artificial intelligence often feel reluctance from executives in the practice of using the data.
Difficulty Explaining Data to Others
The fact that explaining data to others is a challenge that makes it difficult for organizations to utilize artificial intelligence-based data and tools is quite unique and unexpected. However, in fact this is expressed by 35% or one third of respondents.
Lack of Data Experts in Organization
Another fact revealed by 34% of these respondents also completes the list of causes of delays in data processing and the use of artificial intelligence-based equipment.
Therefore, SAS researchers recommend that organizations try to provide an active role for researchers and data managers within the organization.
