Google Maps Blocks 100 Million False Information

Launching from Android Police, Friday (1/4/2022) Google revealed their ways to keep information on Google Maps reliable and trustworthy.


Google also says that it uses machine learning and human operators to block more than 100 million fake editing attempts on profiles on Google Business.



This machine learning also helped Google remove more than 7 million fake profiles, of which 630 thousand were removed based on reports from users.


In addition, Google also stopped 12 million corporate incognito attempts and closed 8 million fraud attempts claiming to be company profiles. Google also closed 1 million accounts for violating related policies.


This report on the reliability of Maps also includes steps Google is taking when businesses reopen in 2021 and people are trying to take down other users with fake reviews.


More than 95 million reviews that violated Google policies were removed and 60,000 of them were related to issues surrounding COVID-19.
