There are conditions when we don't want to read WhatsApp messages from certain people. It can be done without having to block it. Here's how.
Maybe many don't know, but there is actually a way for WhatsApp users who want to avoid WhatsApp messages from other people without having to block them. You do this with the chat archive feature.
With the archive feature, WhatsApp users can make chats from other people directly into archives and in a muted condition. This feature can be set as desired and its nature is optional.
"The archive on WhatsApp allows you to manage private messages and prioritize important chats. The Chat archive will still be archived and muted but you can still change it back," WhatsApp wrote in its official account as reported on Thursday (14/4/2022).
The WhatsApp feature allows other users' chat contacts to be muted when a new message arrives. All chats will be archived and remain permanently saved.
By default, the feature will separate chats even if there are new messages that come in. When the chat comes in, there will be no notification, unless your name is mentioned and the message is replied to.
In its official blog, WhatsApp explains that the feature aims to give users more control over their inbox. In addition, messages remain on top of the user's most important chats.
Here's how to use the Archived Chat feature:
Open the WhatsApp application, go to Settings -> Chats -> turn on the Keep Chat Archived toggle
Return to the chat list, specify the contact whose chat you want to avoid
Select chat by pressing for a long time and a check mark appears
Create an archive by clicking the archive button, which is a folder icon with a down arrow.
The archive will appear above the chat list and is already muted
How to restore Archived Chat:
To cancel, simply go to the archive if the Keep Chat Archived button is still on. Select the chat that you want to cancel by pressing for a while until a checkmark appears
Opt out of the archive by clicking on the folder icon with an up arrow
Or the second way, if the Keep Chat Archived button is off, just type the name of the contact in the chat, long press. Several options will appear, and choose Unarchive Chat
Thus, archived chats are back to normal chats
