Apple will showcase iOS 16 at the upcoming 2022 Worldwide Developer Conference. Candidates for the latest operating system for the iPhone will reportedly bring significant improvements.
This news comes from analyst Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter. Gurman said iOS 16 might not bring a new design, but this operating system will bring improvements to notifications and health features.
"From the iOS side, I expect some pretty significant improvements overall, including updates to notifications and a new health monitor feature," Gurman said, as quoted by MacRumors, Monday (11/4/2022).
"I don't expect an end-to-end redesign of the iOS interface, even though that design hasn't changed much since iOS 7 almost a decade ago. But maybe there will be a new iPad OS multitasking interface," he continued.
Turning to other Apple operating systems, Gurman said WatchOS 9 will bring improvements to its activity and health monitoring features, but he didn't explain what specific features it would bring.
Gurman also did not provide detailed information about the macOS 13 update, including what name to use. When it launched macOS Big Sur, Apple delivered a significant redesign, followed by macOS Monterey which introduced new features like Universal Control and SharePlay.
Apple will announce iOS 16, WatchOS 9, and macOS 13 at the WWDC 2022 event which will be held on June 9, 2022. Just like the previous year, this year's WWDC event will be held online again.
In addition to the row of operating systems above, Apple is likely to launch new hardware products at the event. Gurman said Apple is currently developing several new Macs, including a redesigned MacBook Air, a revamped 13-inch MacBook Pro, a new 24-inch iMac, and a new Mac mini.
