Meta Cancel Requires COVID Boosters for Office Employees

Meta (formerly Facebook) decided to stop insisting on requiring employees who go to the office to have COVID-19 boosters. Previously, Meta actually asked his employees for a booster before going to the office.

A number of technology companies seem to have started wooing their workers back into the office. Meta, as well as Microsoft, are gradually reopening their offices in the United States (US) on Monday (28/3) this week.

"We updated our requirements announced in early March to align with CDC guidelines, and now COVID-19 boosters are no longer required as an office entry requirement, although that is highly recommended. While the main vaccination requirements (dose one and two) remain in effect," the spokesperson said. Meta talk quoted from CNBC.

The changes come less than three months after the social networking giant announced back-to-office rules. A Meta spokesperson did not provide an explanation for the changes.

According to New York Times data, in California, where Meta is headquartered, 71% of the population has been fully vaccinated, and 35% have received booster injections. The newspaper's data also showed that the number of COVID-19 cases in the US had declined since January.

Unlike Meta and Microsoft, another technology company, Apple which is also based in California's San Francisco Bay Area, still requires employees to show proof that they have received booster injections.

To note, the US Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday (29/3) allowed a second Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID booster (fourth dose) for people 50 years of age or older, at least four months after receiving the first booster. .
