Moon Dust Brought by Neil Armstrong, Auctioned for US$1.2 million.


 Samples of lunar dust collected by Neil Armstrong on NASA's Apollo 11 mission are up for auction. The particles are estimated to be worth up to US$1.2 million..

This is the first time in history that a lunar dust sample will be legally auctioned off by auctioneers on April 13, 2022.




The offering contains five pieces of scanning electron microscope (SEM) aluminum samples, four of which are covered by particles of the first lunar dust sample that Neil Armstrong collected in July 1969.




Bonhams, as the auctioneer, said that this piece of space history is estimated to be worth between US$800,000 to US$1.2 million.




In addition to Moon particles, Bonhams is also auctioning other space goods.
