Combat drones have become the mainstay of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine in particular, is said to be able to attack Russian convoys with effective and efficient drone strikes. Meanwhile, the Russian drone seems to have disappeared without a trace.
Even before the invasion, experts believed that Russian drones, which, among other things, were equipped with artificial intelligence to target targets, would become frightening and deadly weapons. In fact so far this is not the case, Russian drones are not included in the attack.
As quoted by us from Asia Times, Ukraine mainly relies on the Bayraktar TB2 drone from Turkey which is claimed to have destroyed Russian convoys and heavy vehicles. In addition, they also deploy commercial drones such as DJI.
Not to mention that there has just been the help of an advanced suicide drone from the United States called the Switchblade. This drone destroys the target by hitting the target and detonating itself.
Meanwhile, Russian drones are practically hard to find in Ukraine. Not long ago, the Ukrainian Interior Minister displayed a damaged Russian KUB-BLA suicide drone on a street. Apparently, the drone was shot down by the Ukrainian army before launching its action.
But apart from that, there are practically no more Russian drones in sight. Russia has reportedly been testing autonomous combat drones before the invasion of Ukraine. Then what's the problem?
"It's hard to know why we haven't seen Russian drones yet. One reason may be that they are reserved for later deployment when the conflict escalates. Drones can deliver biological, chemical or even nuclear weapons," Asia Times said.
"Another possibility is a matter of logistics. Since there are many reports that Russian military vehicles are damaged in Ukraine, Russia may not be able to support drone operations in Ukraine," they added. It may also be because the technology is considered immature.
